Cosmetic dermatology represents the aspect of diagnosing, treating, and preventing the changes to the skin that are aesthetically not pleasing to the patient. Whether it be aging lines, pitting from acne, or scarring from sun damage. These observed changes in the skin can have a significant effect on a patient’s psychological well being.
Cosmetic dermatology can be defined as procedures and treatments that change the appearance, colour, texture and structure of bodily features, which most would consider otherwise to be within the broad range of “normal” for that person.
Patients with acne scarring and hyper pigmentation can be treated with chemical peels and intra-dermal fine needling techniques. Dr Clayton and his team have recently undertaken additional training in cosmetic procedures and deliver these treatments in the new clinic on King Street.
Anti-wrinkle injections are given only after an in-depth, individual specific consultation. These treatments are usually given to treat forehead lines, crows feet and frown lines. Dr Clayton or his specialist nurse Georgina will usually undertake an in depth analysis and full aesthetic consultation before advising on injectable toxins.
Dr Clayton does not treat patients under the age of 28yrs with anti-wrinkle injections or intradermal fillers of hyaluronic acid.
